What a glorious trip the VEGAS VOYAGERS experienced back in early September when we cruised Alaska. The Royal Caribbean Quantum of the Seas was a wonderful home for one week, and the majesty of Alaska was all inspiring.
I must admit however, that the last time I was there was almost thirty years ago and I was in my late 30’s. I can tell you I was a bit more energetic. I did do a float plane flight and I did do the White Pass and Yukon Railroad. On that cruise we did sail in to Glacier Bay National Park. And I did stay up way later than I did on this most recent cruise.
This is not to say that I didn’t thoroughly enjoy this cruise. I did. And as you can see by the pictures, the whale watching in Juneau was awe inspiring. The Ketchikan Duck “Boat” ride gave us a great land/sea perspective of Alaska’s “First” (closest to the lower 48) city. A visit on the Quantum’s NorthStar observation platform was an absolute highlight.
While this cruise for a 60 plus year old was a bit more sedentary is was memorable nonetheless. Just remember, there are lots of ways to visit our 49th state, whether it be by cruise or cruise/tour, or a glacier route tour, if you haven’t been, add it to your list.
We will hold our next VEGAS VOYAGER’S meeting on Monday November 7, 2022 at the Sun City McDonald Ranch Club House located at 2020 West Horizon Ridge Parkway, Henderson at 10:00 am. At the meeting we will present our current schedule of “Bus to the Boat” cruises along with our schedule of land tours and river cruises with our good friends from Premier World Discovery Tours. Please RSVP to our email address at fairtravel@aol.com or by phone at 516-485-3200. We look forward to seeing you there.
