I’ve mentioned in the past how with the virus situation the world is a bit upside down. And in the month of August and now September when the hockey season is over, there is meaningful a Stanley Cup playoff hockey being played. We should be starting to get ready for the 2020-21 season, and we still have to crown a 2019-20 champ.
So last night my team, who I have been watching for 48 years, the N.Y. Islanders advanced to the east division conference championship for the first time since 1993. That is 27 years ago. Jon was eight years old and he remembers. My dad was still alive. We had season tickets and I went to a number of play-off games. The Islanders lost to Montreal who eventually won the Stanley Cup in1993.
But this is a big deal. The Islanders are a big part of our family culture and it really gives us something to watch and talk about other than presidential politics and the pandemic. It will be fun to watch the next round and hope the Islanders win and then play for the Stanley Cup. It won’t be easy they are heavy underdogs to Tampa Bay.
