Last nights entry was very short because Jon called and I never got back to Visiting my life. I’m glad I had the surgery because I feel pretty good. But last year at this time, not so much. Sitting in the ICU, (they get you out of the bed within 24 hours of the surgery), with all sorts of tubes still min me, I felt pretty awful. Not so much pain but just full body discomfort. I was just washed out, and it seemed like every few minutes some nurse or doctor was poking me or sticking me or drawing blood. I was given great care and the entire staff was wonderful, but they were really all over me. Lights out was 9 o’clock or so with wake up at 5:30am. In between you got poked or stuck a time or two. I was able to sleep but it was interrupted sleep.
I was in the hospital a total of 12 days. I was there over The July 4th holiday and that was actually nice because the hospital was quiet. Not all the beds in the heart unit were full and I had a private room for that las 4 days of my stay. That was nice.
