Back in February 2005 I jumped off the merry go round. For eight weeks I stopped my life, my normal daily routine and flew three thousand miles out to Loma Linda California to be treated for prostate cancer. I left my family and had 44 daily proton radiation treatments to cure my cancer. Fifteen years later I’m thinking it worked
But it was a sea change in my status quo. I had no job responsibilities. I had no family obligations. All I had to do is focus on my medical treatment. It’s almost if I had retired. No job, no place to go except for a half hour a day, to the hospital to have my treatment.
I didn’t think I would have this feeling again in my life. Not so this pandemic closed everything down and over the last three months I’ve had no job, no place to go. Stay at home shelter in place, no shopping, no diner stay away from the grandkids. It’s been hard. It’s as if I have jumped off the merry go round again. I hope it ends sometime soon.
