One of the consequences of the caronavirus outbreak is that my mother really can’t live alone right now. Up until the outbreak she has lived in her own apartment and had an aide seven days a week, eight hours a day.
When the outbreak became really bad mom moved in its Elise in Connecticut. That was six week ago. Today she cmoved here with Sharon and me. Looks like she’ll be here for at least two weeks. But she would really like to go home. That can’t happen until we know she can get her aides back and have the coverage she needs. It also can’t happen until the virus abates a bit more. Right now the only way for that to happen is to maintain the social distancing rules. There is no vaccine and there is he “heard” immunity. So it might be a while longer before restrictions are relaxed.
But I do know that my mom wants to go home. She wants her space. On the good side I do get to spend time with her and she really is in the game. She knows what’s going on. We have to keep her engaged and as active as possible. We just have to make the best of a bad situation.
