Do you remember where you were when JFK was assassinated? November 22, 1963. I was in 5th grade. I was 10,years old. I was in Mr Heinz’s class. It was about 2:00 pm in the afternoon and the principal of the school came over the loud speaker, which never happened, to tell us what happened.
I was devastated. It seemed as though time stopped. I just started pacing in the classroom and Mr.Heinz didn’t stop me. We just identified in our family so much with him. My mom and dad voted for him and we were a strong Democratic Party family. Even at that young age I was a news nut. I watched Walter Cronkite and was really into the news and history. I remember watching the news and all the funeral events all day long. His killing really effected me even though I was only 10.
