I’m 66 years old. Wow. In the blink of an eye. Dad passed away almost 26 years ago. I was only 40. I would have liked more years with him. But I still have my mom. How blessed am I. She will be 92 in March. She is 100% present. She has all her mental capacity. She plays poker, mah jong And canasta 5 days a week. Reads and knits every day. For 92 it’s a great quality of life. But she does have her frailties. Broke her pelvis ,tore a rotator cuff. But she soldiers on. She loves her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She has always been there for us. She can be stoic but she will do anything for the family. She loves to cook and send her favorite recipes home to all of us. Hugs and kisses and squeezes. The Garden Song. Inch by inch row by row come and watch my garden grow. Plant your garden straight and strong. That’s what my mom did with me and my sisters. And it is a beautiful thing to see.
