I really mean it! Now is the time to go away……..especially to Europe. As I write this the U.S. Dollar is about 1.08 to the Euro. This is almost a historical low for the Euro. For example when I traveled in Europe this past November the rate of exchange was $1.28 for 1 Euro. I was paying an over 25% premium for any purchases I made. A 25 Euro purchase back in November 2014 cost me $32.00. Today (April 2015) that same $25 purchase would be a little over $27. And some economists are “Crystal balling” and saying the Euro will go lower.
Go ahead, buy that French perfume, or the Italian leather goods, or French or Italian wine. Have a great meal seaside in Barcelona and you will do so at much lower prices. And airfares from the U.S. to Europe are also lower. We all know the price of gas has gone down. The same is true for jet fuel. This has helped the price of an airline ticket go down. Not as much as I’d like to see, but any savings is a good thing.
