The first big, and I mean really big trip I ever took was when I was 15 years old. I was fortunate to have parents who could afford to send this wet behind the ears kid on a two- month cross-country summer bus trip around the United States. It was summer camp on wheels with the extra added bonus of seeing the United States. Just to mention a few stops; we visited Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, most of the national parks including Mt. Rushmore, The Badlands, Yellowstone, and the Grand Canyon. Of course we visited the west coast and I even got to spend a night in Las Vegas. There is not much for a 15 year old to do in “Vegas” especially in 1969. I can report that Circus Circus was open at the time and the carnival games were a lot of fun.
